Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Christos Giannakakis – Vice President of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece (Etheas) thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan for taking the time to receive the delegation.

Mr. Christos Giannakakis said, during this visit to Vietnam, the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives wishes to establish and promote the first steps of cooperation in bringing Vietnamese workers. Nam went to work in Greece in the agricultural field.
“The National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece is an organization with more than 300 members, of which 80% are cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector, stretching from the north to the south of Greece. . Currently, Greece has a shortage of human resources in many fields (60,000 workers in agriculture, processing industry, 50,000 workers in construction and 50,000 workers in tourism). Greece has only received workers from countries outside the European Union (EU) to work in industries such as agriculture, livestock, fishing, construction, apparel, and hotels. , restaurant and domestic help. Some Asian countries that have supplied labor to Greece to work are Bangladesh, the Philippines, and China,” said Mr. Christos Giannakakis.

However, according to Mr. Christos Giannakakis, the European Union is increasingly tightening the acceptance of labor, so the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives is facing a lot of difficulties in finding workers from the current market. Therefore, the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives is expanding to seek new labor markets like Vietnam with high-quality, safe and hard-working workers.
“At this visit, we look forward to receiving support and cooperation from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in particular and the Government of Vietnam in general in the process of bringing Vietnamese workers to work in Vietnam. Greek. That way, the two parties will eliminate the risks related to illegal labor brokerage. The Greek side also ensures that when Vietnamese workers come to Greece to work, they will be provided with the best facilities and materials to work with peace of mind. – Mr. Christos Giannakakis emphasized.

Thanks to the sharing and suggestions from the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan said, during the official visits and working sessions in Vietnam and Greece of senior leaders. From the two countries, the Vietnamese side discussed with Greece about cooperation in sending Vietnamese workers to work in Greece. Greece also highly appreciated the qualifications, vocational skills and sense of organization and discipline of Vietnamese workers and agreed that the two sides would soon negotiate and sign a labor cooperation agreement.

In order to implement the working contents of the leaders of the two countries, the two sides’ functional agencies are actively promoting exchanges and negotiations to sign an agreement on labor cooperation.
Regarding the cooperation proposal from the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan informed that in July 2023, the Vietnamese side has allowed 03 enterprises to prepare labor resources (each enterprise has the right to prepare labor resources). allowed to prepare a source of 50 workers) to be sent to work in the agricultural sector (planting, harvesting and processing agricultural products) in Greece.
“With a great demand for labor, the two sides can study in the direction that between the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives and the Department of Overseas Labor (MOLISA) will sign a framework agreement on cooperation on bringing Vietnamese laborers to work in Greece in the agricultural sector. In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan asked the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives to clarify the process and time for visa issuance, foreign language requirements and work permits for Vietnamese workers.
